RADICAL ENTERTAINMENT TAKES INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO EMPLOYEE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

VANCOUVER, BC, October 4, 2000 - Radical Entertainment has demonstrated, once again, why it is one of North America 's leading developers of digital entertainment by establishing a truly revolutionary approach to intellectual property. With its new Idea Review Senate (IRS)-spear-headed by Creative Director Stephen Van Der Mescht-Radical recognizes the full potential of its employees while fostering an environment of collaboration and trust.

Today, intellectual property (IP) is everything and the fear of losing all rights to original ideas often outweighs the possibility of actually getting the ideas developed. So many people within the industry sit on their ideas rather than share them with their company. Radical has developed a solution to this conundrum through the creation of its IRS.

Headed by Van Der Mescht, the IRS is a team of nine employees drawn from all divisions in Radical to represent the various perspectives of the company. Radical employees are encouraged to submit their ideas to be examined in depth by the IRS. If the Senate recommends an idea, Radical begins developing it. If Radical does not develop the idea, it gets passed back to the employee who retains all rights to the IP, and can develop it independently, or even sell it to another company. The process is already a success, with several employee ideas currently under review by the IRS.

"This is an amazing commitment from Radical to its employees and unique in our industry," says Van Der Mescht, "If the decision is made to go forward, the game is made with participation of the employee. If not, then the ownership of the idea, and all rights attached to it, are returned to the employee." The goal of Radical 's IRS is to provide an infrastructure that encourages and supports creative concepts for entertainment innovations. "In the past, people may have been hesitant to share their ideas for fear they would languish on a shelf collecting dust if the project was not pursued. Now, Radical alone in our industry gives them other options."

"Employees have always been encouraged to explore and share new ideas, but now it 's a fair deal," says Danielle Michael, Radical Entertainment 's Director of Business Development, "This is not only a completely innovative way to operate a company, it 's great for business and morale. The hope is to turn some of these great ideas into top-selling original titles."

The IRS is just one of many innovative employee support and recognition programs that Radical Entertainment maintains to provide a healthy, creative and respectful work environment for its staff.
